Like to see a wire to know what´s 3D
I used a photo from the swiss alps and reprojected the image onto a mesh of the actual location taken from google earth. then build the town on top of that so the scale would be accurate. So in then end most of the scene is actually in 3d space.
after it was rendered I did a camera move with nuke. that part was done 2.5D and the setup looked like this..
